Prime North Texas workplace developer expands into multifamily

A long time Dallas-area office building developer is setting up a new residential division to do multifamily projects.

Cawley Partners has built a series of successful office projects along the Dallas North Tollway in Addison, Far North Dallas and Plano.

Now the developer is launching a multifamily residential operation to handle a new North Dallas building and other projects.

Cawley Partners recently sought zoning approvals to construct a two-building apartment community on Northwest Highway in the Preston Center area.

The 16-story and nine-story buildings would replace two aging condominium properties located on the north side of the street – adjacent to other high-rise residential buildings. The new community would contain about 225 units.

Cawley Partners has hired Kris Kashata, formerly with Crescent Communities, to head its new multifamily housing operations. While at Crescent Communities Kashata worked on apartment projects in North Oak Cliff, Deep Ellum and Houston.

β€œIn his new role as multifamily partner for Cawley Partners, Kashata will be looking to secure multifamily development opportunities across the state, with a priority focus on the D-FW Metroplex,” according to the developer.

Founded in 1996, Cawley Partners has a track record of more than 15 million square feet of commercial real estate projects.

The developer recently announced a new office project near the Dallas North Tollway in Plano.

And Cawley Partners was part of a venture that sold a Southlake office campus that houses the headquarters of travel services firm Sabre Corp.

The North Dallas apartment building Cawley Partners is planning is one of several new multifamily developments proposed for the Preston Center area east of the Dallas North Tollway.
